My name is Ella and I am a soon-to-be mother to identical twin girls! I grew up in central Maine and moved to New Hampshire during college, where I now live with my husband Tyler and our chocolate lab, Jack. I love being with my family and friends, crafting, photography, music, the outdoors, teaching and working with children. I am looking forward to becoming a mom for the first time - times two!!
Mom & Dad
In April 2005, I met the man who would become my best friend, husband, and soon-to-be father of my children. We first met online and immediately hit it off, spending many many hours on the phone before finally deciding to meet in person. We began dating and on October 10, 2010, yes 10-10-10, I married my best friend lakeside in Maine. We visit the area as often as we can, as I have family there, and Tyler would never pass up an opportunity to catch some large mouth bass on one of his favorite lakes! I cannot wait until the day we can take our girls there and share with them the story of our incredible wedding weekend!
In 2011, we decided that we wanted to build our first home together, and we began the (long) process shortly after! Around this same time we started discussing starting a family together. I had also had back surgery in March of 2011 after a work injury, which resulted in a blood clot in my chest. This meant that I would have to be on blood thinners for an undetermined amount of time, so the trying for a family was put on hold. It was about nine months before I could get off the blood thinners, and a few more months to allow my body to go back to normal. Due to the blood clot and starting to build a home, we decided that we wanted to be in our new home before anything else, but began thinking about what steps we would need to take. As the home building process progressed, we decided that summer of 2012 would be the time to begin trying (the house was to be finished in the fall). In early June we were very surprised to learned that we were already pregnant! Unfortunately, we suffered what the doctors called a chemical pregnancy a few weeks later. While it was a difficult experience, we learned a lot about the pregnancy process and I was able to get myself more prepared than I had previously been. There was nothing medically keeping us from trying again right away, so after a bit of time to emotionally get through it we were ready to start trying as we had originally planned. On September 16th, 2012 I had a feeling, a good feeling, and I was late..
On September 17th, 2012 I took my first test, with Tyler by my side. As he read the results, I think I felt every emotion I'd ever felt in my life in that one moment. We were both so happy and excited, but immediately so scared. We have no idea what we are in for, we have no idea how to be parents... What in the world have we gotten ourselves into? We also took 3 more tests, just to be sure ;)
Oh, and I forgot to mention that throughout this whole moving and getting pregnant thing, we were in the process of getting a brand new puppy. So I guess that the Mommy and Daddy practice was coming ready or not! We brought Jack home on September 25th, 2012, and from night one we got our first taste of sleepless nights and parenthood. Maybe we can do this thing after all?!
Jack!
On October 4th, 2012 we closed on and moved into our brand new house. We were finally home, with the newest member of our family, and the secret that we were expecting another! Jack was of course a puppy, and a lot of work, but he has been surprisingly easy to train and super cute and snugly - which makes it all worth it! Having Jack and the new house actually worked well as distractions because we had decided to wait until after the first trimester to share the baby news based on our previous experience. Our happily ever after was in full swing, but we had no idea what lie ahead...

That's a little about us, and I hope you stick around to see how our journey to becoming Mom and Dad plays out! While I had hoped to start this blog back in the beginning of our pregnancy experience, I have kept a journal, taken many photos and documented everything privately and with the help of facebook. Because we have family that live out of state and do not use facebook, I am finally getting my butt in gear and catch you all up so you can finish this journey with us and begin the journey of parenthood with us!
I hope you enjoy! :)
